MOTS-c
Mitochondrial-derived peptide for metabolic health and aging research.
Description
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the Twelve S rRNA Type-c) is a mitochondria-derived peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome. It is a 16-amino acid peptide that acts as a retrograde signal from the mitochondria to the nucleus, regulating nuclear gene expression and metabolic homeostasis.
Research has shown MOTS-c to regulate skeletal muscle metabolism, improve insulin sensitivity, and protect against age-dependent and diet-induced obesity. It activates AMPK and has been found to accumulate in the nucleus in response to metabolic stress. Studies suggest it may represent a key link between mitochondrial function, aging, and metabolic health. This compound is for research purposes only.
